Accessing federal financial aid requires first completing the FAFSA, the free application for federal student aid. The FAFSA is also required by many colleges, scholarship and interest-free loan programs to assess your financial need.
Following are some tips. If you have questions this summer, please stop by the High School to College Center for help!
If you are starting your FAFSA, the first step in the process is to apply for an ID number. This is used to access your federal financial aid information and electronically sign your federal student aid documents.
If you have completed your FAFSA before May, the FSA ID replaces the Federal Student Aid PIN. If you already have a PIN, you can link your information to your new FSA ID by entering your PIN while registering for your FSA ID. The system has been busy so this can take some time.
